Disabilities Program
Students who fit one or more statewide categories may qualify for government funding.
- intellectual disability (IQ below 70)
- severe behaviour disorder
- specific vision impairment
- specific hearing impairment
- severe language disorder with critical needs
The Program Support Group (PSG) - parents, integration teacher, visiting staff and other members, determine the best way to expend the money to support the student. This could mean hiring a disabilities aide, employing a health worker, purchasing resources and a visiting teacher service. If you believe your child may fit one of these categories, please contact our coordinator of the Disabilities program as soon as possible (preferably before June). Applying for Disabilities funding is a complex, time consuming process and there are very strict timelines and criteria.
