The Secondary Campus at The Lakes South Morang College caters for students from Year 7 to Year 11. The focus of our Secondary Campus is to develop and build students’ confidence, resilience, love of learning and respect for others. Secondary is a challenging transition for students where they move from being dependent on key adults to developing social relationships and building peer connectedness. Self esteem, confidence and rational decision making have a major and lasting impact on each student’s ability to participate in their learning, negotiate tasks and feel a sense of belonging.
The Secondary programs at The Lakes embraces 21st Century teaching and learning and are developed to move from concrete to abstract thinking. Students are given opportunities to be curious, build their capacity to use higher order thinking skills and are encouraged to have a say in their learning tasks. Programs are differentiated to support and target individual skills and abilities and are developed to build on prior knowledge, encourage teamwork and ultimately achieve student success. We support Middle Years students to develop their growing interest in ethical and moral issues and foster their development as 21st Century citizens in a rapidly growing global community.
